the schoolyear about to begin again, and cold and flu season right around the corner, I thought I'd present
some articles regarding vaccines and the swine flu. The other articles are about farming and healthcare and their intimate
connection. My objective is not to tell you whether or not you should get vaccinated, or whether your child
should or not, but rather to give you more information so that you can make a more informed decision, and not one based
on fear and misinformation. Another thing I wanted to make people aware of, is that
vaccines are not mandatory, even for school. Most people that I talk to don't know this. There is always an exemption, and
in California you can exempt yourself one of three ways: Medically, religiously or philosophically. Each state is different
and here is a link to check your state's laws: Click Here. You need to know your rights so that you can have as much information as you can before you make an important decision such
as vaccinating you or your child. You also have the right to pick and choose which vaccines you wish to receive and whether
to receive them individually instead of the usual multiple vaccines in one shot like MMR and DPT. The first article discusses
this in more detail. So again, my point is not to convince you one way or the other, but rather to give you more
information so that you can make an informed decision for yourself and your family. What it ultimately comes down to, as always,
is taking responsibility for ourselves by being informed, prepared and proactive when it comes to our health. There are
many simple ways to strengthen your immune system such as Vitamin D, Vitamin C, probiotics, adequate sleep, etc. And
as you'll read in one of the articles, homeopathy was, and is, a very safe and effective option when dealing with flu prevention
and treatment. We'll be carrying many natural remedies here at the office in the coming weeks and months, so feel free to
come in and take a look and if you happen to need more specific assistance regarding your condition, Helene is now available
for appointments. Enjoy the articles and as always, I welcome your feedback. Dr. Grosman |
Vaccinations: Parents' Informed ChoiceBecause the misinformation surrounding vaccination
is so extensive, many parents don't even question whether or not they should vaccinate their child, overlooking one of the
most important decisions a parent can make. Since medical authorities say vaccination is safe, most parents simply go ahead
with vaccination, completely unaware of the potential dangers and unable to recognize a serious reaction when it does occur.
And since government health departments and school authorities give the impression that vaccination is mandated for
every child in the United States, most parents believe they are legally required to vaccinate their child. But in all 50 states,
you are free to decline vaccination entirely, or adopt a partial vaccination schedule, an important decision about the health
and welfare of your child. Read Full Article |
Doctors in Mexico City Cured 2009 Swine Flu with Homeopathy
Homeopathy had
an amazingly high cure rate in the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic in the USA. Just recently, during the 2009 Mexican Flu outbreak,
a small group of Mexico City homeopathic doctors have revealed that homeopathy is up to the task again. This is good news
considering that many over the counter and prescribed pharmaceutical flu remedies not only hazard negative side effects, but
they may also not really cure current flu strains.

| Agriculture and the Healthcare Debate: Inextricably Linked President Obama's
plans to reform the healthcare system in U.S. have taken over the headlines in the past several weeks. Doctors, economists,
insurance executives, public health experts-all of them are being afforded the chance add their two cents on how to fix our
broken healthcare system. The voices that are strikingly absent, though, are those of the agricultural community. What, you
may ask, does agriculture have to do with overhauling the healthcare system? My answer- everything. Read Full Article |
Farm to Hub to Table: New Nonprofit Feeds Appetite For Local Food Dick Proutt is a small
farmer. A very small one. At Down Branch Farm, he raises chickens and quails and grows lettuce, squash, melons and tomatoes
on about an acre. In high summer, his weekly haul might include just five dozen quail eggs, 40 pounds of tomatoes and 20 pounds
of squash.
The Jefferson Area Board of Aging wants exactly that kind of food for the more than
3,000 meals it serves each week. But it needs 100 pounds of tomatoes. And that's for one day's worth of salads at its 11 area
senior citizen centers. Until now, JABA had only two options: Cobble together an order by making weekly pickups at several
local farms, or call a one-stop national distributor. Read Full Article |
